Presentation to Dutch authorities implementing the AI Act: technological innovation, regulatory governance, and regulator reputation

On 22 March, Dr Lauren A. Fahy gave a presentation to practitioners responsible for implementing the AI Act. The practitioners included representatives from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, the Inspectorate for the Human Environment and Transport, and the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport. Dr Fahy drew on a case study of the UK financial conduct regulator’s governance of emerging technologies, including financial AI. She presented results from her interviews and surveys with ‘fintech’ companies; discussing the role of reputation in applying regulatory governance over risky and uncertain new technologies.
